Proceed Calmly
Anger is rarely sudden.
It forms quietly,
then seeks control.
Scripture gives us a direction on this matter:
“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
— James 1:19
Anger wants movement.
Not answers.
Not meaning.
Movement.
It’s a signal—not a command.
God doesn’t ask you to suppress it.
He asks you not to let it drive.
Jesus didn’t react.
He chose.
That distinction matters.
Feelings surge.
Wisdom steadies.
Strength isn’t shown by how loudly you feel.
It’s shown by what you refuse to hand control to.
Today’s Practice
When irritation appears, don’t negotiate.
Ask: Who is in authority?
Reclaim the seat.
Breathe.
Listen.
Proceed calmly.
Closing Prayer
Lord, When irritation rises, help me remain steady. Give me breath instead of reaction, clarity instead of impulse, and the strength to proceed calmly.
Amen.
